On April 9th and 10th, 2018, the TSRC presented another sensationally successful TSRC conference, thanks in large part to the efforts of Program Committee Chair, Ms. Susan Parsons, and the many dedicated presenters, attendees and vendors. This year’s conference was held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, nestled in the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Ms. Pam Ditto was honored as Outgoing President as Ms. Susan Parsons took oath as 2018 TSRC President, to begin July 1, 2018. Ms. Ditto served our state well during her time in office, leading us into 2018 and challenging our state to take a greater interest in legislative matters. Ms. Ditto will remain on the Board of Directors as Past President and advisor to Ms. Parsons.
The conference kicked off with sensational keynote speaker and Country Music Singer, Mr. Bartlee Norton. Mr. Norton treated conventioneers to top shelf entertainment followed by an inspiring discussion on being not only memorable, but legendary in the field and those you touch. Attendees were then treated to professional presentations that met the annual requirements for CEU’s through two tracks, allowing the conventioneers versatility to meet their interests.
The Exhibit Hall:
The exhibit hall and convention was supported by many great vendors. Attendees were introduced to some of the latest and most innovative technologies available to RCP’s. While visiting the exhibit, attendees fervently bid in a silent auction filled with desirable merchandise from across the state.
The student population attended in full force, as over half of the schools in the state were well represented. We were pleased to offer a few student-centered activities to include Scholarship Contests, Poster Presentation Contest, and an open forum allowing students to have the floor in front of a panel of hiring managers from the state. The Sputum Bowl was a nail-biter of a competition which pitted five strong competitors against each other. Walters State Community College emerged Sputum Bowl Champions, etching their place in the history books by winning their eighth straight competition.
The TSRC annual conference is a time for RCP’s to recharge their professional batteries and strengthen the camaraderie and unity essential to any profession. Tennessee RCP’s are doing great things across the state every day, the TSRC annual conference is the best way to connect with fellow RCP’s and stay abreast of what’s happening in your profession. We hope to see you in attendance next year!!
